It was probably impossible for anyone at Shiz to miss the arrival of Fiyero. He wasn't the kind of Prince who had an entire entourage complete with fanfare and heralds, but he might ask well be for how quickly word spreads.
It suits him fine, always wanting to be busy and happy to meet new people. For now he's shaken off the crowd following, familiarising himself with his new campus - though still with the occasional whisper and pointing. It might take weeks for that to subside entirely.
He doesn't pay particular notice to anyone, until he walks past a girl just as her hair subtly changes to match the pink flowers growing around the columns, and he stops in his tracks.
"Can you do mine next?" he jokes as a greeting, to catch her attention.
She'd heard the news of the new arrival. It honestly had been difficult to miss. She'd chosen not to pay much mind to it. She's had her share of royalty growing up. Going to Shiz gives her a sense of freedom to really explore her abilities and see how far she can push herself. She prefers privacy outdoors for her practice. All she really needs is a mirror and the different array of colors all around her to draw from.
Changing her hair color is easy enough. The red drains away to match the blue of a lily nearby. It's such a strange color on her that it makes her huff in amusement. She changes the blue to a soft pink from the flowers around her.
She startles when she hears a voice. Looking up, she finds the infamous new prince.
"Why, do you prefer pink?" she countered with a raised brow.
"Dunno. Never tried it before," he answers in a chipper voice, smiling down at her. "I think blue is more my colour, but I've never tried that in my hair before either. Think it would suit me?"
Sorcery of any kind is pretty rare in Oz, so of course he's curious. Plus, being able to change your look just like that seems quite fun.
He seems kind and amiable, but she's learned at a young age not to trust a pretty face. She gestures for him to take a seat next to her in invitation even as she eyes him thoughtfully as if trying to imagine him with pink hair.
"Well, I suppose you could always try out both to see how you'd like it," she replies. She moves her hands in a graceful movement along her hair until the rich red returns.
One may certainly be amiable without being kind, something Fiyero is plenty familiar with himself. He doesn't blame anyone who doesn't get won over by his charm - but he does find it interesting, as he tries to charm anyone in his path.
He swings smoothly down in the seat next to her. "Promise you'll turn it back if I don't-- Whoa," he says, softly cutting himself off as he seems how her hair changes. That's so fascinating!
He seems so genuinely enraptured by her magic that it draws a smile out of her. She doesn't think it's very much. Right now, she can do superficial changes and track heartbeats, but she's hoping with time, she can do healing. That's the end goal for her. For now, it's little tricks like this. Madame Morrible tells her she has promise, but most of her attention goes to her other students.
"It doesn't hurt if that's what you're worried about," she explains to him in case he has concerns. "You hardly feel anything."
He actually hadn't been, that possibility not occurring to him. Not with how casually she's doing it outside.
"As long as my hair doesn't fall out. I'm quite attached to it," he quips lightly, as he lounges backwards against one of the pillars next to the bench.
She has to stand to meet him. They have a bit of a height difference, it it's not so insurmountable that she can't reach. Since he'd mentioned blue, she draws from the vibrant blue flowers nearby to change his hair to that same shade. It's much easier since his hair is shorter than her own. With a sudden surge, the brownish blond changes to the blue.
She picks up the mirror and holds it before him. She eyes him thoughtfully. "Mm, not bad though I'm not sure it's you."
