Personality
Fiyero is a prime example of superficiality masking depth. On the surface he's a carefree party boy, but inside, he's depressed and lonely.
traits. Charming, friendly, playful, affectionate.
flaws. He represses and avoids negative emotions, putting on a happy mask, and is deeply private about anything profound. Despite an outward appearance of friendliness and charm, he's avoidant and elusive, never truly letting people in.
ideals. His expressed ideals is an optimistic nihilism, to 'dance through life', remaining mindless and careless. In reality, he cares a lot, deeply values friendship, and wants to be a positive force in the world - though he's not sure how.

History
Fiyero is the only child of Marilott Tigelaar, Chieftan of the Arjikis, and Baxiana of Upper Fanarra. As such, he's the Crown Prince of the Vinkus (aka Winkie Country), the Western region of Oz. It's not a very populous region, consisting largely of mountains and grasslands, but fairly prosperous due to its mining.
He has a strained relationship with his parents, who don't show an overabundance of love towards Fiyero or to each other. His upbringing was one of responsibility, as well as a broad education. He never was well suited for classroom learning, but did well in other areas, particularly anything related to charm or physical prowess.
His dearest friend is a (talking) horse named Feldspur, who's been with him for many years now, including as Fiyero started attended schools away from home - several of which he was expelled from. At this point he'd developed a rather nihilistic outlook, masquerading as hedonism, as he avoided responsibility and prioritised careless fun.
Fiyero went through a change while he attended Shiz University, where he befriended Glinda Upland, whom he immediately started dating, and Elphaba Thropp, who opened his eyes to standing up for what's right. Elphaba was later denounced by the Wizard of Oz and came to be known as the Wicked Witch.
Following Glinda, Fiyero moved to the Emerald City, eventually becoming the Captain of the Gale Force, the Wizard's personal Guard. He secretly worked to protect the talking Animals from the Wizard, partly by redirecting attention towards capturing Elphaba. In reality, he wanted to help her, not apprehend her. He also became engaged to Glinda, losing faith he would ever see Elphaba again.
When they finally reunited, Fiyero helped Elphaba escape from the Wizard, leaving Glinda while deeply regretting the pain he caused her in doing so. Elphaba and Fiyero only had a few days together before he was captured by the Gale Force for protecting her. He was beaten and tortured almost to do death, but she rescued him by turning him into a scarecrow.
As the Scarecrow, he was found by Dorothy Gale from Kansas, and helped her in finding a way home. Under the pretense of defeating the Wicked Witch, he helped Elphaba fake her own death, so they could leave Oz together.
