"Oh yeah, absolutely." Kitty glances around at the people nearest their table. There's certainly a lot of attractive men here but Kitty has never been really big on casual hook ups, so he doesn't really get that appeal. He's distracted by a waiter that comes by to take their drink order - Kitty's favourite detail about this place - and he orders a pineapple champagne martini and then looks at Fiyero for his own order.

Once they're alone again, Kitty smiles brightly at him, "anyone here caught your eye?"

The drinks here are very different from what Fiyero's used to, so he usually asks for a recommendation. Something sweet and fresh - which this time gets him a strawberry daiquiri.

"Why? I've already got company," he answers, mirroring the smile. "Do you dance?"

Fiyero may be a flirt, and he likes the attention and how it keeps things light and fun - but hook-ups isn't really something he does either.

Kitty's smile somehow brightens at that; whether because it's because Fiyero has confirmed that he's not here with Kitty until he finds a hookup or for some other reason, Kitty isn't interested in looking too deep at. "I do. Not sure how good I am here but I did take ballet as a kid and into my early teens."

"Mmm!" Fiyero answers excitedly, his eyebrows going up. "Well that makes a change at least. We'll have to have a dance later."

His impression so far of the average dancing skills around here is a lot less formal and learning specific dances, and a lot more shimmying and swaying to a beat.

"Do you have ballet in Oz? I used to be able to go en pointe but I don't think I could do that anymore. Not that ballet is really the right dance vibe for a place like this." The same staff member from before returns with their drinks, placing them in front of them and Kitty offers a 'thank you' and a smile.

"In the Emerald City, yes," he answers, though he doesn't know what en pointe means even so. He's seen it performed, but that doesn't mean he knows anything about it.

Fiyero smiles at the staff member too, though it doesn't occur to him to thank them. He is a prince and he's very used to it, after all - though that doesn't mean he's ever rude about it. He's spoiled, yes, but he doesn't get indignant or angry if he's not being spoiled.

"And we has places similar to this, but... I think maybe dance education may be a bit more common there?" he comments with a smile at the lack of dance skills he's observed.

"Is that anything like New York?" Kitty is incredibly interested in knowing as much information as possible about Oz and it's cultures and differences from the world he knows.

Kitty takes a sip of his drink and shrugs. "I think you can get classes for most dance types but I've only ever done the one. And I'm not sure how many of those classes are relevant for the club scene. In places like this, it's more about just moving your body in a way that feels good as opposed to what looks good."

Fiyero wrinkles his nose a little at the question. "Only in that it's big." He might elaborate later but he's more interested in hearing about this world he's found himself in, and the person he's sharing a drink with.

Which he takes a sip of as he listens to Kitty, and relaxes back in his seat as he stirs the slushy drink. "You can do both," he answers, before he sits up and leans forward, leaning his elbows on the table. "So, tell me more about yourself. You didn't give me a formal introduction."

“Guess you’re right there.” Kitty lets out a dramatic breath and shrugs. “My formal introduction is far less impressive. Kristopher Pryde, friends call me Kitty. Codename Shadowcat, member of the X-Men.”

"Well, you have a codename, that's still pretty impressive," Fiyero points out cheerfully. "The X-men, that's those people you live with? With the superpowers?"

"Not as impressive as a title like 'prince' but I suppose it's pretty cool." Honestly, Kitty thought being an X-Men was wonderful; he enjoyed being able to put his abilities to good use helping people.

"We're one team of them, yes. We're technically a boarding school for kids with powers that either aren't accepted by their families or just need a safe place to learn how to use their powers, trained by people who understand them. We also teach normal subjects."

Fiyero gives a shrug at the prince title being impressive. It's not like he earned it, but he's used to being swooned over so he's not gonna argue.

He frowns curiously at Kitty talking about this school, though. "Wait, so you're a teacher?"

"Oh don't shrug at me. I'm sure being royalty has plenty of perks." Meanwhile, people like Kitty were shamed, feared and hated and just because he was lucky enough to be 'human-passing', doesn't mean there weren't plenty of others who suffered.

"Uh, no. I mean, I substitute for some classes if someone needs a cover. But it's mostly just a place of residence for those of us who are too old to be students but are on the X-Men team."

Fiyero just snorts gently at Kitty criticizing his shrug. Perks, yes.

"Ah, right-- well, you can't blame me, you did just say that 'we' teach normal subjects," Fiyero teases, dropping back against the seat. "I'm glad though, after I talked about how boring school is," he adds with a grin.

"Okay, you got me there. I did say that." Kitty takes another sip of his drink and almost chokes on it when Fiyero reminds him of his complaints about school being a bore. "I personally don't think school is boring but a lot of it came really easy to me.

"But if I was a full time teacher, I still wouldn't be upset that you called it boring."

"Good. I'd hate to upset you," he says genuinely -- though the teasing smile returns pretty quickly. "And I'd hate to have a friend who's easily upset."

Fiyero's always been pretty quick on the draw, and that comes to friends as well. It's not very difficult to earn his affection.

“Good thing I’m not easily upset then.” Kitty chuckles softly, shaking his head. “You are an interesting one, Fiyero Tigelaar. I don’t know how you found me in this world but I’m glad for it.”

Fiyero grins brightly at the returned friendliness. He really needs friends right now, so from a practical perspective, it's important. But he also likes Kitty so far, and would probably enjoy being friends even if he already had a thousand of them here.

"Oh, you came highly recommended," Fiyero points out. "Pretty accurate descriptions so far, too."

Kitty’s expression turns confused then, brow furrowing much the way it had as he’d stared down at the initial texts they’d traded when he wasn’t 100% Fiyero hadn’t been completely messing with him as some kind of prank.

“Wait, by who? What descriptions? I just assumed I was a misdirected text.”

Fiyero, meanwhile, had assumed Kitty knew, so he looks briefly confused as well, before he smiles with amusement. It's pretty funny and kind of sweet that Kitty would just accept his invitation without knowing almost anything about him or why Fiyero wrote him.

"Your friend Jubilee gave me your number," he answers. "And spoke rather highly of you, actually."

"That little b-word." Lucky he loved her or he'd probably phase her into the wall and leave her there for an hour in retaliation. It was probably also a good thing that he and Fiyero were getting along so well okay it didn't hurt that Fiyero was both funny and attractive too because he'd be really pissed off otherwise. "She didn't tell me she was giving out my number so she better have spoken highly of me."

Fiyero grins at Kitty's annoyance at this news, since it doesn't seem to run very deep. (It's also very cute that Kitty seems to censor his swears? He guesses that's a swear.)

"And you came to have a drink anyway," he observes, smiling cleverly as he takes another sip.

Kitty's can feel that his brow is furrowed and he huffs a breath out of his nose but it's really hard to stay annoyed with the way Fiyero smiles at him. His smiles are contagious and Kitty is weak.

Shut up.

"What can I say? I was intrigued by the man who travelled through dimensions on a broomstick."

"Oh, so you believe me now? What was it that did it -- the outfit?" he asks playfully. He's not sure what else he's done to be convincing.

Speaking of outfit though, he unbuttons and opens his jacket, since it's rather warm in here, revealing his shirt and suspenders underneath. He arrived with both another outer jacket and gloves as part of his uniform, to ward against the cold outside, but they got taken off the moment he sat down.

“When did I say I didn’t believe you?” Kitty was pretty sure one of his lasts texts actually confirmed that he believed everything he’d been told by the prince.

Even if the Animals thing was still a little confusing. Did they have… not People-Animals?

“But yes, the outfit kinda sells it. Very… extravagant? That’s probably a good word for it.”
